We’ve arrived! 2016 was a whopper of a year and so many of us were grateful to wake up on January 1 with a fresh start. I LOVE January! Truthfully, this time feels even more exciting than Christmas Day. It’s a time of magical creation and the excitement of a brand new chapter is in the air. This an opportunity for many of us to start a new story, perhaps leap into new adventures and rediscover parts of ourselves that have been dormant for some time. It can be a time of awakening motivation, new desires and passions, profound growth and the decision to fully LIVE.
I spent the last week of December in contemplation as I have a difficult time with the word “resolution.” I feel that that with resolutions we can often get cut off from the root of what it is that we are seeking. They can become an outward checklist that lacks soul, possibly creating a shame/self-doubt cycle if they aren’t checked off daily. New beginnings aren’t about shame. That is something I refuse to carry into 2017.
I prefer to incorporate the terms, “New Year Remembrances” or “New Year Reflections,” because truly the deeper intention is reconnecting with the parts of our soul that are already there; the inner workings of each us that want to wake up, shine bright and evolve. This is a time to dig deeper and stay connected to reasons or values that strengthen the human connection.
What are we bringing to the table this year?
As I sit here on Day 3, I’m still fine tuning my game plan. The baby is napping (hallelujah). I have candles lit, beautiful music playing and motivating essential oils (peppermint and wild orange) diffusing in the room. It is in this sacred space where I return to my higher self and she takes the reins. This is my meditation, my self-love and where I create my map for 2017.
This is where the magic lies.
My reflections include the following: What is my offering for 2017? How can I be of service? How can I infuse more love into everything I do? How can I find a deeper love of all parts of Jen, find more self-forgiveness and forgiveness of others? What is my physical temple wanting and how can I care for her more; be more gentle and loving to her? I strive to learn and know better so how can I do better? How can I experience more gratitude each day. The journal time is much needed and my hand moves quickly, writing each thought that comes to mind. When I am done I return to the beginning. As I answer each question and all of my soul “remembrances” become defined and louder, I find that I am fully aware of what my higher self is calling my attention and focus to this year.
I begin to fine tune.
Priorities and boundaries are being created and magic is evolving from this sacred time.
I am awake.
It is time.
Let’s do this.
More soon on how to return to this sacred space all year long. Until then, if you need assistance discovering your magic and mapping out your year, I invite you to reach out. What does your soul desire to remember and create?
